CASE STUDY – Surfacing Footway at National Trust

Spadeoak was privileged to be asked to complete the construction of a footpath at the National Trust Trail in Runnymede.

The footpath creates part of the Egham to Runnymede countryside circular walk, a 3.7miles round trip in moderate terrain. This circular route takes you around Runnymede nature reserve. Exploring Langham Pond and the ancient woodlands which form a Site of Special Scientific Interest for their many rare and endangered species and the rich wildflower meadows that are home to the birthplace the Magna Carta.

Spadeoak transformed the trail from a rough type 1, loose crushed stone and sand footpath that could cause hazards to walkers to a sustainable low-carbon asphalt walkway.

Our teams respected the beautiful environment we worked in installing a AC20mm binder course to the 2,200m² trail. This project saw our solution save over 1,650kg of CO2 savings compared to conventional material.

The project was completed and handed back to a very happy client.
