CASE STUDY – Dixons Carphone Warehouse car park construction project
Surfacing specialists Spadeoak were appointed by Dixons Carphone Warehouse to construct a new car park on an existing concrete base, deteriorated through years of use and beyond repair.
The proposed design included the installation of lighting, additional drainage, bollards and also, electric vehicle charging points. Additional support to existing retaining walls was also required.
With over 45 years of surfacing experience Spadeoak was appointed as the contractor to complete the installation of a new car park for retail giant Dixons Carphone Warehouse. Spadeoak was appointed to construct a new asphalt surface due to the degrading concrete base currently on site and complete the works with associated civils and line marking.
Due to the failing concrete base, this was excavated and removed form site, a subbase later was installed and strengthened in areas with a glassgrid membrane to prevent future reflective cracking.
An 100mm treatment was then laid to create the new car park surface, 60mm of 20mm open graded binder course was finished with 40mm of 10mm open graded surface course.
New lighting and CCTV bases were installed to the car park, a perimeter fenceline was also erected to secure the site.
The project was completed with fresh thermoplastic line marking and handed back to a very happy client.
