CASE STUDY – SuperColour Red Asphalt
Spadeoak was the appointed contractor to complete the surfacing of a newly constructed cycle path leading to a cycle shelter for the employees at this warehouse in Birmingham. Our client wanted the cycle path to be installed with a red asphalt, from the SuperColour range by Aggregate Industries, a hardwearing, durable and permanent coloured asphalt that combines aesthetic appeal with the long lasting durability of traditional asphalt.
A large bike shelter was also installed encouraging employees to cycle to work, the cycle path would be installed utilising the red asphalt from the SuperColour range by Aggregate Industries (AI).
SuperColour is an eye-catching range of coloured asphalt that is suitable for a variety of architectural and decorative applications. Available in a choice of visually striking colours, SuperColour combines aesthetic appeal with the long lasting durability of traditional asphalt.
The distinctive colours are achieved by combining asphalt, coarse aggregates and a wide range of pigments. AI batching plants use specific and dedicated mix designs and materials to ensure a consistent colour is attained. A robust and hardwearing solution that offers permanent colouring.
Ideal for this location the hardwearing, durable and permanent colouring features appealed to our client who could ensure demarcation from alternate areas with an aesthetically pleasing finish with long lasting durability for this busy commercial unit.
Spadeoak installed 80 tonnes of material to the 290m² area. The material was installed in the same manner as normal asphalt with a mix of hand lay and utilising a smaller mini paver due to the paths location. The material was then compact with a roller and left to cure.
Spadeoak will also be completing the access road and parking bays on site in a SMA material.
