CASE STUDY – Northampton Temporary Car Park

Surfacing specialists Spadeoak was appointed by our client to lay the surfacing installation at significant project in Northampton, although phasing our works to coincide with the project build, Spadeoak was initially tasked with surfacing a new temporary compound car park.

Experts in the industrial and commercial sectors Spadeoak was trusted by our client on this high profile site to install the surfacing to plot 7 of this industrial site in Northampton.

Our phased works began in October 2024 and our initial task was to construct a temporary compound car park measuring 2,200m².

The Project

The site in Northampton is a large-scale logistics park creating up to 5 million sq ft of distribution buildings, a new road infrastructure and improvements, extensive landscaping, including new foot ways and cycleways, planting of 60,000, trees and 30,000 shrubs and over 80 acres of parkland and amenity grassland.

The construction was made with a 100mm installation of AC32 asphalt, utilising a warm mix asphalt this has created a carbon saving of over 3,300kgco2 the equivalent of planting 192 trees.

The Challenge

The challenge on this project was to minimise disruption to such a busy construction site, with over 500 tonnes of asphalt being delivered for the car park Spadeoak’s site supervisor had approved pre-planned holding locations for the asphalt vehicles to wait until they were required without causing disruption to other construction activities.

Successful Completion

The project was completed in a single day ensuring the site compound had instant access to a asphalt car park for the duration of these works.
